If A Bullet Could Talk We Should Listen

Watch the video here!

If a bullet could talk, it would speak in a voice that is hard to listen to, about issues that are too often swept under the rug, in a voice that is too often ignored – that of women. We all understand that gun violence makes us all pay a heavy price, even though we are not all affected.

This powerful, thought-provoking video from Bajan Spoken Word artist Stoned With Cupid offers a necessary friction between the lyrics and visuals forcing us to think. The story of the video is produced by Dreaming Cloud and the piece is written and performed by Akeem Chandler-Prescod aka StonedwithCupid. Featuring the acting talents of Maisha Jordan and Gabriela Atherley with music produced by Lex Luwisi. It was made possible through Akeem being one of the winners of the Open Ya Eyes And See competition.

The piece is a marriage of our current problem and potential of what it can become. I also explored other social woes within the piece such as violence against women , rape, consent and how people deal with trauma.

It goes deeper than just guns… If a bullet could talk, it would remind us in addition to gun violence, violence against women also needs to be properly addressed. The video has amassed over 150 views in less than 12 hours so add your eyes and ears to that and share this powerful message.

You can also check it out on the Selecta Charts site and also please note nominations for the 2019 People’s Choice Awards are open so head on over and submit who know know should get big up the most in 2019.
