Performing Arts Category definitions
Actor / Actress Of The Year
A person, who has delivered an outstanding performance in a leading role, live or in media, for the year. Example: Theatre, film, audio drama, short series
Bashment Artist Of The Year
The person or group who either had either singular significant imapct or consistent success in the Bashment music genre over the course of the year.
Best Emerging Artist
The artist or group who came into more mainstream publicity during 2023 or 2022 on their journey to become a household name and establishing their reputation. This is not limited to just music genres but upcoming artists across all platforms.
Dance Group Of The Year
The dance group who have been consistently performed on stages or produced video content online showcasing top talent in synced choreographed moves that best support the music or videos they are moving to.
Dancehall Artist Of The Year
The artist or group who has been consistently relevant during the year 2023 or had an individually significant large impact during the year with the dancehall music community.
Dancer Of The Year
The individual dancer who has consistently performed on stage, produced video content for entertainment or education, or choreographed high quality work that was signifcantly impacted the country and/or region.
Deejay Of The Year
The disc jockey who the public believes is able to engage and entertain the online or in-person crowds they play for the most with mixing skill and impresses audiences with knowledge of music and selection.
Gospel Artist Of The Year
The inspirational artist or group who has been producing uplifting content throughout the year, inspiring the Christian community.
Hip Hop /Pop Artist Of The Year
The artist or group who had consistent high quality or an individual signifcant impact with the best rhythmic or hip hop music appealing to a wide audience in 2023.
Live Vocalist Of The Year
The individual artist who is the public’s favourite voice to hear performing live during 2023 who has that crystal clear best singing voice we can listen to forever
Musician Of The Year
The individual instrumentalist who has consistently performed on stage, effectively support the other artists in the production. The most skilled and entertaining musician you have enjoyed in 2023.
Poet Of The Year
The performance poet who has been performing on a consistent basis in 2023, leaving thought provoking an entertaining influence on audiences through literary devices and memorable delivery
R&B / Pop Artist Of The Year
The artist or group who has been consistently performing and publishing in the genre of Rhythm and Blues that had the public grooving with their fusion of soul and jazz.
Reggae Artist Of The Year
The artist or group who for 2023 has been consistently performing live in the Reggae music genre or producing music that had the biggest impact and rated the highest across the community.
Rock Artist Of The Year
The artist or group who have been performing consistently in the Rock genre that had the biggest impact with the Rock genre community locally and/or internationally.
Soca Artist Of The Year
The artist or group in the Sweet Soca or Power Soca genres who had the biggest impact on the public during the Crop Over season or across neighbouring carnivals across the region and world in 2023.
The Damien Taylor Cultural Stage Performer Of The Year
This goes to the artist or unit who embracing Bajan folklore in their performances in cultural events, hotels and dinner stage shows. This includes musicians of indigenous instruments, performances of folk characters or songs. This award is dedicated to Damien “Dappa” Taylor.
